In 1990, Christian Garat, successively technician in Renault’s Test Center,
F1 Renault Sport motor mechanic, partner of the MVS Venturi adventure
decided to create his own company.
He founded the limited liability company G.M.S to offer to
the most demanding automobile passionate the work of high precision
demanded by the old sporting vehicles such as the R5 Turbo.
A very complete equipment (machining, argon welding, marble ,
engine control material sanding, geometry of drive trains enables us to
reduce subcontracting to the minimum and to thus guarantee a follow-up
of quality through all the stages of a restoration.
Sensitive to the growing request of the collectors restoring their
vehicle themselves, G.M.S very quickly added the selling of spare parts
to its activities, proposing /editing a catalogue entirely dedicated to the
R5 Turbo, which you can check out on this site.
Since July 2005, G.M.S henceforth has a workshop surface of 300 m2,
with an office and also an independent space dedicated to the assembly
of the bodies, engines, speed-boxes and any other subset requiring
isolation from dust generating works (disassembling of body, marble,
sheet-iron works, mechanic welding).
A washing area, which is being set up as we speak,
a sanding corner and various mobile partitions will gradually come
to complete the dissociation between the different activities practised
when restoring a car.
Of course, G.M.S hasn’t forgotten its "spare parts" customers
since it is now a carefully sorted, indexed and classified stock covering
nearly 200 m2 which is at their disposal.
At the heart of a tourist area which has managed to preserve its authenticity,
between walls of stones which are over two centuries old, we have realized
the alliance of the rusticity which comes hand in hand with the spirit
of the ‘Classic cars’ and of the advanced technology necessary to the quality work
for which we have become famous.
We put at your disposal our new buildings which are set almost in the centre
of France, a hundred kilometers to the south of Clermont-Ferrand, and which can be
easily accessed by the A75 motorway, being situated 15 kilometers from an exit.
(The motorway is free from Clermont-Ferrand to Montpellier except for the Viaduct of Millau).
